Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Managing innovative GIS based development projects.

What is GIS?

GIS software is generally a set of tools which allows you to perform spatial analysis and interrogate, visualise and analyse data on maps. Geographic information systems (GIS) functionality often forms part of our bespoke development projects.

Our GIS based projects

We are experienced in the development of GIS based systems and have managed a number of complex and innovative projects over the years. Some of these include:

  • Forensics & scene of crime system

Pulsion developed a forensics and scene of crime system recently which allows high resolution spherical crime scene images to be easily manipulated by users to display hotspots and information relating to fingerprints, footprints, DNA and other forensic evidence. Video footage, 3D models and audio files can also be inserted onto these images and floor plans.

  • Mapping software

Development of GIS based mapping software for a leading property development company. The GIS software uses OS MasterMap and integrates with the company’s property management system to allow visualisation of property related data onto ordnance survey maps.

  • 2D & 3D Visualisation

Another GIS based project was the development of an application to provide 2D and 3D visualisation of borehole image data for a geological consultancy. The software manages multiple well plotting allowing all related data to be accessed via a single interface. The analysis tools allow the modelling of data and spatial relationships.

GIS is also a module within our eSquiggles data collection software which optimises asset and vehicle tracking.
